What is Therapeutic Massage?Therapeutic massage aims to alleviate a specific issue in the body. A variety of techniques are used to ease the tension in the tissues such as swedish, myofascial release, deep tissue, stretches, and trigger point techniques. Though a therapeutic massage can be relaxing that is not the immediate goal.
-
What should I wear? You do not need to wear any special clothing for your massage. In fact, your therapist will instruct you to remove your clothing to your comfort.
-
What are knots?Knots are also known as trigger points. Trigger points are hyper-irritated muscle tissue that spasms causing the tissue to “knot” up. These trigger points can also cause referred pain into other surrounding muscles. These trigger points are mostly caused by tissue overload either from repetitive usage, athletic activity, or some trauma caused by an outside force.
-
How often should I have a therapeutic massage?Your therapist recommends massage to be received every 4-6 weeks for maintenance. However, if you are in a crisis then you may benefit from a weekly session until your muscles are functioning normally again. Our massage membership is designed to facilitate a regular massage routine.
-
How do I book an appointment? You may book your appointment here. Or you may call/text 571-207-7887.
-
Do you accept my health insurance?Currently Function-N-Fitness does not operate in any insurance networks. However, some clients have been able to use their FSA cards for massage services.
