Shannon’s interest in health and fitness began at a young age. As a former student athlete and collegiate basketball player, she endured her share of injuries highlighting the importance of continued strengthening after physical therapy ended. In 2001 Shannon earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Management Science from Howard University. Immediately following graduation, she entered the health and fitness world to help people improve their quality of life.
Spending several years working in physical therapy and chiropractic facilities, she oversaw exercise programs for patients of all fitness levels. She encountered a variety of bodies and learned that “every-body” was different and needed different levels of care. Now, with over 20 years of experience as a licensed massage therapist in the state of Virginia, a Certified Medical Exercise Specialist through the Medical Exercise Training Institute (METI), a Golf Fitness Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) her expertise is post-rehab strengthening and maintenance.
In 2015 Shannon combined her knowledge and expertise and founded Function-N-Fitness to bridge the gap between health care and fitness. She devotes her time to helping others return to the activities they enjoy. In her spare time, Shannon enjoys playing golf, traveling, spending time with her family and cheering the Seahawks on to their next Super Bowl victory!
