Shannon is able to keep my terrible headaches away with massage. Post shoulder surgery and physical therapy, Shannon was able to help me get my shoulder back to 100%. I would highly recommend her for both massage therapy and training.

READ MOREKristen is a certified personal trainer specializing in corrective exercise, performance enhancement and senior fitness and fall prevention. She has trained clients ranging in age from youth and student athletes to the active aging client. She is proficient in the management of muscular imbalances which lead to dysfunctional movement patterns in the body and correcting these to decrease chronic pain and prevent future injuries and falls. Her goal is to help you focus on better movement of your body while gaining strength and mobility. Kristen’s approach to training includes posture and movement assessments, proper stretching techniques, and resistance training. She integrates these gains into functional movement patterns for the body. By doing so, muscles and joints work within their natural range, improving overall muscle tone, coordination and balance while enhancing aerobic capacity. Understanding there is no “one size fits all” program, her customized holistic approach will help you move and feel better! She is dedicated to helping you achieve your goals in the safest, most efficient and fun way possible, with your feedback along the way.

What is therapeutic massage?Therapeutic massage alleviates a specific issue in the body. A variety of techniques are used to ease the tension in the tissues, such as Swedish, myofascial release, deep tissue, stretches, and trigger point techniques. While a therapeutic massage can be relaxing, relaxation isn’t the primary goal.
-
What should I wear? For your exercise sessions you should wear athletic clothing or clothing that allows you to move freely and comfortably. You don’t need to wear any special clothing for your massage. In fact, your therapist will advise you to undress to your comfort level.
-
What are knots?Knots are also known as trigger points. Trigger points are hyper-irritated muscle tissue that spasms, causing the tissue to “knot” up. These trigger points can also cause referred pain into other surrounding muscles. These trigger points are mostly caused by tissue overload either from repetitive usage, athletic activity, or some trauma caused by an outside force.
-
How often should I have a therapeutic massage? We recommend a therapeutic massage every 4-6 weeks for maintenance. However, if you are in a physical crisis, then you may benefit from a weekly session until your muscles are functioning normally again. Our massage membership is designed to accommodate a regular massage routine.
-
How do I book an appointment? You may book your appointment: https://functionnfitnessva.ptminder.com Or you may call/text 571-207-7887.

-
What are your safety procedures? We require all clients to wash or sanitize their hands when entering the facility. All appointments are scheduled 30 mins apart to allow time for sanitizing equipment and shared spaces.
